http://www.fotobabble.com/m/OEhGeDhYMFhEWVU9

LITERARY DEVICES WITH SONG

See, see, see (repletion)
Y=MX+B
It’s the perfect occasion to say…
It’s a linear equation
It’s to graph as a straight line
Linear equations are divine (metaphor)
 (Chorus)
You need to have simple variable expression
Without any tension
M equals slope
B equals Y intercept
You must accept
_____________________
Mister Mac must not be mistaken (alliteration)
This is used for graphing
It’s so easy you wont stop laughing (hyperbole)
Dates back to the 1840’s
Get it shawty’s
(Chorus)
You need to have simple variable expression
Without any tension
M equals slope
B equals Y intercept
You must accept
_____________________
"I must confess that in my quest I felt depressed and restless." (assonance & allusion & imagery)
But at the end your brain will feel as a noblesse (simile)
Pops and sparks (onomatopia) of intelligence will fill your head
Linear equation will stay with you until you go to bed (personification)
(Chorus)
You need to have simple variable expression
Without any tension
M equals slope
B equals Y intercept
You must accept
_____________________
Math sometimes is difficult (understatement + paradox)
Math at times is super fun (irony + paradox)
But as they say, two heads are better that one
So all hands on deck (synecdoche)
As we try to figure you out Math. (apostrophe)
The allegory is how you need to do well in school. Even if its difficult and isn’t that much fun you have to get through it. Your brain and your future need it to become successful at whatever you do.

worst poem ever 11 types of F.L

Worst Poem
WOW, School is cool
I like it as much as when I go to the pool
My school jumps up and down
It’s a clown
We like to sing, sing, sing
Until we hear the ring, ring, ring
Our school is the best school never
Never say, never
Please pass the pencil and paper, pleaded peters
We look down on cheaters
Dear school, you’re the best
I bet we are going to ace that test
The bathrooms are so clean
It feels like an OCD dream

Novel Project, Quarter 2

Novel Project, Quarter 2
Novel I read this quarter:  Tan Lines By: Katherine Applegate
2.5 Literary Devices:

And in this life of
Yes live
(SKILLFULLY CRUELED)
all worlds
-       e. e. Cummings
-       “love is a place”
No Thanks (1935)
Allegory:  A deeper meaning
Your life is everything you deserve. You deserve the best! I believe this book isn’t just about a girl deciding what she wants in life (what college to go to, which boyfriend fits her best, or who should be in her life). I have realized this book has a deeper meaning, which is go for what you want. If somebody is holding you back, leave him or her behind. “I want you to know that you deserve the best you’re beautiful.”- Lil’ Wayne
Understatement: Stating the obvious in a not so obvious way
Pg. 406-“A sleeping bag, a cup, a fork, a toothbrush and a bar of soap. What else does a man need?” Diver shrugged, “Man you do live light.” Austin replied.
Paradox:  Two opposite meanings that come together
Pg. 389 NEW TEXT FROM SETH: Hey…If you get this message, call me. If not, don't worry about it.
Irony: The expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite
Title of chapter 15. “One Big Happy Family” (Summer’s cousin Diana kissed Summer’s boyfriend, Seth.
Synecdoche: When a part represents a whole.
*Was not found in the book; other examples are:
All hands on deck.
Apostrophe: Addressing something non-human or dead as human or alive
Pg. 502- “While diver sat under the stars he wondered if justice still existed; if truth was still alive.”

3.0 Novel project Jan 2012

Alma! Your work was really amazing! Everything was so organized and so well presented! I definitely need to take tips from you!

Sammy: i really liked how it was down to the point and easy to understand. one thing you could improve is how you organize it (maybe double spacing it) its kind of cramed together. Over all its pretty good.
