bungee jacket ruff draft

Sophie Steckerl

Bungee Jacket

Our group has many theories for our bungee jackets. Our goal is in case of an emergency there would be jackets that allow you to jump out of a building and land without getting hurt. One theory is to have the jackets inflate like a ball around you. These balls would be made of material that allows you to bounce. Once you would hit the ground you would bouncy away from the building into safer grounds.   We have discovered a new type of rubber designed by Japanese scientist. It’s a carbon based nanotube rubber, even though it is better known as viscoelastic materials. However this type of rubber can twisted, punched, rolled, bent, stretched and kicked- yet it can return to its original state. On the other hand this material is great because it can be smashed into a back pack, but in times of emergency stretched into a ball, and then but back into the backpack. Mean while Japanese researchers say this rubber does not shatter on contact and will not melt away. This is key in case of a fire. Although unlike normal rubber the carbon based nanotube rubber is known to conduct electricity which means there can be some kind of motor so it can be rolled away from the building mechanically.

MSNBC is a news channel. Have done their research, they have their facts straight. Not trying to sell you anything.
·      This link is exceptional for our bungee jackets. The type of rubber is perfect for the bouncy balls that inflate around you.

·      This is Scott Westerfeld’s idea behind his bungee jackets. We are taking it and modifying it to how we want it and to the technology we have now a day.

This is the science behind our rubber. EDU
·      We had to investigate the science of our rubber and how it is made down to the grain.

·      This is research on plastics that can resist heat. This in great for the inside of the balls.

star wars articles

Light sabers and levitating vehicles:

Light sabers are 3 feet long and are made of plasma. In this article it will explain how a light saber is practically impossible to make. First off you can’t make light stop at three feet (there needs to be something to stop it). Secondly the power that a laser needs to kill an actual human being cannot fit in that little of an object. The science behind elevating vehicles is already in process. The main source of its success is magnets or wind blowers (like a giant propeller).

Artificial gravity:

Space stations are one of the bind blowing aspects of star wars. It even blows the mind of the “brains” behind NASA, David Smitherman. He says that for something like this to work it would take some kind of rotation facility that generates gravity. Rotation may also help, as it did the Mars Rover. A floating theory could also work.
