What my portfolio says about me:

My portfolio reflexes my learning this year.  Eighth grade has been a tough year. However I am very grateful for having such great teachers.

My knowledge and hunger for learning has grown this year. I think we are all at an age where we really have no motivation to get up in the morning. However I am glad to say we’ve made it. I am nervous yet exited for next year and the four years of high school to come.

In my portfolio you can get to know, me, my passions, my favorite subjects and my work. This year we did so many assignments using the latest technology. We made countless videos. We were also introduced to new tech tools (see examples in my portfolio). I hope you guys enjoy.

non fiction novel project may 2012 Little Bee

1. Teather: a rope or chain that’s prevents an animal to move.
2. Placid: calm and peaceful
3.  Gouge: a chisel like tool with a cylindrical blade.
4.  Solemn: grave
5. Ogling: to look at in a flirty way.
6.  Asylum: a place where ill or people with needs go.
7.  Queue: braided hair worn hanging behind
8.  Impeccable: flawless, perfect
9.  Sorcerers: evil, supernatural powers
10. Cobbled: to mend, put back together
11. Smiting: to hit hard
12. Linoleum: hard, washable, floor covering
13. Foe: enemy or opponent
14. Acolytes: somebody following the celebration
15. Henchmen: Flunky, criminal
16. Recrimination: accusation in response to one from someone else
17. Insatiable:  appetite or desire, impossible to satisfy
18. Threshold:  Piece of wood or stone that you put under the door
19. Bystanders: A person who is present but not involved (passerby)

21. Cipralex:  a drug used for depression
22. Fester: Unhealthy, decay
23. Bureaucracy: system of organization and administration

25. Solicitor: lawyer who addresses matters of law with clients

Amazon Book review: Ruff copy
Little Bee
This quarter we were assigned to read a non-fiction book. To honestly say I wasn’t too happy. I tend to stay away from non-fiction. But to my surprise I ended up really enjoying it. This book is anything from placid. It’s about an African girl named Little Bee. She is driven out of her festering country, by the sorcerers who control it.  She makes a journey to the impeccable country of England. Where she meets up with some old friends.

Surprisingly enough I did like this book. On a scale from one to ten I would honestly give it a seven.  Very good life lessons are shown in this book. You can see how life can concave from one second to another, it shows you how not to be a bystander in life, to cobble a relationship, or too even make peace with your foe. But the most important lesson of all is how to acolyte life to it’s fullest, because you never know how much time you have left with the people you love.

This book will leave you insomniac. You’ll be so teathered to it; that you won’t want to put it down. I recommend this book for sixteen-year-old kids and up. It’s a little overwhelming but its still an impeccable book. The story line is queued together, so you really have to have patience to understand it.

3.0- try using transitional words to polish it up, I really liked your review you gave details but, you didn't give it away, also you had a really good use of the words and the paragraphs flowed nicely. You have some grammar mistakes but, over all your review is great.

Peers questions: SCHOOL REDESIGN


Peers questions:

How is this different from a pre ap
How will the kids benefit
Will the kids feel bad or compared?
Will it make them like PE less?
If kids with a low physical status are in a regular class wont they advance more?

Awnsers:

This isn’t an AP course. These are many levels of physical education. Everybody has a different physical state. Kids should not be put in one Physical Education class.

Both kids with a low or high physical status could inprove. For example kids with a low physical status could feel comfortable. And kids with a high physical state would have a bigger field to do what they like and what they are good at with ot being held back.

Yes. Kids could feel compared but at the same time they are improving there exercising skills.

It will actually make them like PE more. They are getting to do things they actually can do and feel comfortable with.

No. Taking a kid and putting them into an environment they can not handle will make them feel 1. Uncomfortable. 2. Low self esteem. 3. They are not going to advance and 4. Will be held back; therefore a lower grade.

ATHENS vs. SPARTA "FAVOIRTE PIECE OF WORK"

     Education and good citizenship was essential in Ancient Athens. It left us with a clear image of what it means to be and educated person, and our ultimate goals of education. Until the age of six/seven, most children were raised at home by their mothers or by a trained housekeeper, (slaves, who specialized in teaching kids, where better known as gogos). Gogos’ would teach children manners, moral beliefs and what to expect when they leave their mothers nest. Greek myths and legends where incorporated into the child’s learning. Girls had a scarce need for education; on the other hand every Athenian father had the right to raise their boy as they pleased. He could either teach his son himself or he could pay someone to do so.

     When a young Spartan reached the age of seven, they were taken over by the state. The state rightfully owned him until the day he die. At the age of sixteen they were put into a secret police agency. The Spartans where more of a military-based society; compared to the Greek way of life.

     Conformity and discipline was strictly enforced in Sparta. In Athens, great philosophers influenced the society like Pericles, Plato etc. Both systems have their pros and cons. The children of Athens depend on the decisions of their parents. The children of Sparta depend on the state, which means they don’t have free will.

     The Colombian education system consists of nursery school, elementary school, high school, technical instruction and a university education. A typical Colombian student studies around 14 years and attempts to go to college. A typical school year runs from February to November. In Colombia 1.8 million children between the ages of 5 and 17 do not attend school.
