Personal diary Nov. 27... 2

I went to California once when I was eleven years old. I fell in love with it as soon as our plane landed. It was not until two years later that I had the idea to go to college in Cali. At a very young age I realized that more whole body seemed to function better when I was around the beach. My skin glowed, my mind was completely positive, my hair got blonder and my body just seemed to relax. Whatever problem was going on in my life, it just seemed to go away when I was at the beach. I am happy to say I am going back to California to spend New Years with my family.

personal diary Nov. 27

This year for Christmas I am going to California. I have wanted a paddleboard for a while now. A paddleboard is a thicker surfboard about twice your size (I would need a 10ft 6in surfboard). You stand up on the board and maneuver yourself with a paddle; therefore the name, paddleboard. It is recognized as SUP boarding (Stand Up Paddle). Since I am going to California I was hoping to find one and bring it back home. Since the waterways are so cold here I would also need a wet suit.  this year I rather have one big gift instead of many small presents.

Animal Rights

Animal rights is a subject very close to my heart. For that reason our group has chose to discuss this topic.  One thing that needs to be said is that our group DOES believe in the circle of life. This means we have to have meat in our diet and neither of us are vegetarians. Although we do believe that animals are a part of life just like humans. We also believe that they deserve to be treated with respect.

One amazing organization is PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). PETA is known for putting out the information that no one want to talk about and what happens to animal behind close doors. For example: from where McDonald’s buys its meat and poultry; and in what living conditions the animals are kept in. Another example is how Sea World is being sued for Orca constitutional rights. For the next couple of weeks our group will be working closely with PETA for accurate information and the best quality work we can give you.

Facts and Statistics:
·      It takes over 50 minks to make one fur coat.
·      Cock and dog fighting are practiced in almost every country on earth.
·      Over 100 million animals are used for testings in labs almost every year.
·       Products are not required to label if their products are tested on animals.

From all the subjects that need to be covered for animal rights; the most important one for us was, dogs. One of the problems being, “Why a huge population of dogs are on the streets today?” We did our research and found out the facts that most people don’t know.

Did you know that 70% of dogs that are on the street were abused? You’re asking, “What is abuse?” Abuse is anything from yelling (verbal abuse) to hitting or beating the animal (physical abuse) and, everything in between.  Either these animals escape or their owners leave them on the street. Pounds were set up by the governments to help this problem. Over crowding in these shelters lead to the dogs having to be killed. This is why it is important to adopt at a local shelter.

Our PSA video is based on the true story of my dog, Nola. My brother bought her off the streets when she was only two months old for five dollars. She was fed banana peel and parasite infested water. It took multiple vaccines and a lot of medicine and nutritious food to bring her back to her normal healthy self. Today, she is a four-month-old healthy puppy and I don’t know what my family would do with out her.

Animal Abuse Mind Map

GAME!!!

Prepositions Old Maid

* remember don't show your cards to anyone
1. Deal all of the cards equally
2. Look for matching cards, for example one card with the preposition for and the card with the picture that describes for.
3. If you have any, put them down so everyone can see them.
4. The person who has the most pairs down steals a card from the person from the left. (Without seeing what he chooses)
5. Whenever you get a new pair put it down.
6. Go on until one there are no more pairs and one person ends up with the old maid.

commercial nov.2.2011

Old Spice Body Wash Commercial

This commercial is well none all over the world. (Link above…WATCH IT!) I love it because it makes you really want to go out and by your “man” this body wash. The main character is a NFL player (hot body). He starts out by saying that MY man isn’t him but, he could smell like him. Then he takes you into believing your on a boat (luxury, relaxation, romance etc.) Later he gives you diamonds; a girls best friend. He concludes with: “Anything is possible when your man smells like Old Spice; not a lady. I’m on a horse.” The commercial is talking directly to the ladies; yes you! And it is telling you that life could be a whole lot better if you go out and get your guy some Old Spice. A life full of six packs, yachts, jewelry and horses; what else could a girl want! His voice is very deep but mature and elegant at the same time. It seduces you. The basic point of this commercial is to by Old Spice.

This video was persuasive because, it starts out talking about America. It makes you feel pride towards your country. It makes you feel bad about the horse population decreasing. It shows you how badly they are being treated. It also shows you how corrupt our government is. Then there is a impactful message about how only WE can stop this.
