literary devices


1.   Persuasive techniques: ways/techniques in literature to make a person think a certain way.

EX: Don’t miss the episode of Gossip Girl this Tuesday. It’s a real show shocker.

2.   Style: your own flavor to writing. Your own unique spice you through into your literature.

EX: Edgar Allen Poe: gothic, mysterious, dark side, “halloweenish”

3.   Voice: individual voice of an author.

EX: kind of like how a trumpet has a different sound as a tuba.

4.   Point of view: how an author makes you see or hear the characters

EX: Little Red Ridinghood: delicate, sweet, vulnerable girl, who cares very much about her family.
