·      Onomatopeia: pop
·      Metaphor: you ARE my sunshine
·      Simile: quiet AS a mouth
·      Rhyme: hall, ball, tall
·      Personification: the lamp SAT on the table
·      Repetition: baby, baby, baby.
·      Hyperbole: FASTEST runner EVER
·      Alliteration: peter piper picked pickled peppers
·      Assonance: he saw a ball far away
·      Imagery: appeal to 5 senses
·      Allusion: makes reference to something in another literary work
·      Allegory: 2nd deeper meaning (tortoise and the hare)
·      Understatement: stating the obvious in a not so obvious way
·      Paradox: war is peace. 2 opposite meanings that come together
·      Irony: gentlemen… you cant fight in the war room
·      Synecdoche: when part represents a whole (all hands on deck)
·      Apostrophe: addressing something non-human or dead as human or alive.
